LAKE VIEW TERRACE-
One man died and his brother was injured, when flames swept through a northeast San Fernando Valley home Thursday morning.    The Los Angeles Fire Department was summoned at 10:17 AM on May 2, 2019 to 11307 Hunnewell Avenue in Lake View Terrace, where firefighters arrived quickly to find heavy fire showing from the front of a 1,380 square-foot one-story ranch style home.   Twenty-six firefighters under the command of Battalion Chief Brian Dameron confined the fire to structure, extinguishing flames in just 19 minutes. During fire attack, firefighters discovered a lifeless 59 year-old male in a bedroom, and swiftly carried him from the heat and smoke charged dwelling.   Upon a detailed outdoor assessment by LAFD Paramedics, the man sadly proved beyond medical help and was determined dead at the scene.   Another team of firefighters simultaneously encircled the home to find that man's injured brother in the rear yard, having sustained significant smoke inhalation and minor burns when he had entered the residence with a garden hose prior to the Fire Department's arrival, in an attempt to fight the flames.    As Firefighter/Paramedics attended to his injuries, another firefighter safely secured a pet dog in the rear yard before it re-entered the home. Neither that canine or any other persons were injued.   Volunteers from the Los Angeles Mayor's Crisis Response Team were dispatched to the scene to provide humanitarian aid.    The home was not equipped with optional residential fire sprinklers, and there was no immediate evidence of a functional smoke alarm on the premises. Firefighters found no obvious factors that could have impaired an occupant's egress.    A positive identification of the dead man, as well as the cause, time and manner of his death will be determined by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.    Monetary loss from the fire is still being tabulated. The cause of the blaze remains under active investigation.
