On October 9, 2018, the Los Angeles Fire Department was notified at 8:41 PM of a structure fire at 2532 North Daly Street in Lincoln Heights.  Firefighters arrived to find flames inside one unit on the second floor of a three-story center hallway apartment building.

The building was occupied with residents on two floors above several commercial units and as firefighters arrived on-scene, additional resources were quickly added. While initial engine companies were ascending the inside of the building to locate the fire, they were met by a 39 year old male who had critical burns on his face and body.  Firefighters immediately assisted him to an awaiting paramedic ambulance while additional crews were able to locate the fire and extinguish the flames in just 22 minutes.

The patient was immediately transported to a local hospital and remains in critical condition.  Despite the building being heavily occupied, there were no additional injuries and firefighters extinguished the blaze before it engulfed additional units.

Monetary loss from the fire is still being tabulated, while the cause of the fire remains under active investigation.
