Celebrate Safely at Home

Saturday, June 20, 2020

Let's all Celebrate SAFELY at Home this year.

All fireworks, even the so-called 'safe and sane' variety are illegal in the City of Los Angeles. With the challenges we currently face, it may be tempting to acquire personal fireworks for your 4th of July celebration. However, those who use, possess or transport any type of firework may be subject to criminal prosecution - or worse yet, painful and debilitating injury. Personal fireworks are also known to terrify pets, and can cause needless stress for combat veterans.

At this time we do not have information regarding Professional Fireworks Shows within the City of Los Angeles. If you are outside the City of Los Angeles, in areas served by the Los Angeles County Fire Department, please visit fire.lacounty.gov

What if I witness fireworks use in the City of Los Angeles?

Report illegal fireworks directly to the Los Angeles Police Department at any hour, by using a special (NOTE: THIS IS SEASONAL ONLY) web form at:

https://lapdonline.org/fireworks

This complaint form can also be found through the "My LA 311." Download the app on your smart device, type fireworks in the search bar, and click on "Fireworks - LAPD."

NOTE: The special web form via browser or app assures the most efficient notification of Police Officers patrolling your community. Only call 9-1-1 for fireworks if someone is injured or there is an active fire.

What if I have fireworks?

You may turn in your fireworks to the Los Angeles Police Department without penalty. Please call them first at 1-877-ASK-LAPD to receive special guidance.
