A well-coordinated offensive fire attack with vertical ventilation proved effective, and prevented the fire from further spread or damage. No reported injuries. Structure Fire; INC#0289; 07:39AM; 13557 W Mineola St; https://bit.ly/2K3XOoz; Arleta; LAFD arrived to find a one-story single-family home with heavy smoke coming from the attached garage. 33 firefighters performed a well-coordinated interior fire attack with rooftop ventilation and knocked down the bulk of the flames inside the garage of the 1,192 sq-ft home in 32 minutes, keeping it from extending into the living space. Firefighters performed a thorough search of the attic and wall spaces for extension of fire, finding no additional heat spread. One elderly occupant was inside, but in an area not affected by the fire. LAFD firefighter-paramedics removed her from the home early in the incident and performed a medical assessment as a precaution. She was unaffected by the fire or smoke. No reported injuries. Two additional task forces were requested. Firefighters made their way up the stairwell to the 9th floor and found a fire (possible trash area) in one unit.
